Factual TV Rules For Beginners

KKK: The Fight For White Supremacy
This documentary follows the member of The Ku Klux Klan(KKK) in the USA. It contains interviews   many members along with some interviews and archive footage of their opposition The Black Panthers. The angle of this documentary is racism and the KKK are still a huge problem in the USA.

One of the conventions that are being used in this documentary is balance as it shows both sides to the viewers of the KKK  vs the Black Panthers. It does this by including archive footage of both, for example an interview with the KKK state leader Charles Murphy and also shows an interview with  members of the Black Panthers where is asks what their thoughts about racism are. It provides the viewers with voice overs of members of both Klans of them making racist comments.

Another convention that is being used is representation which shows both groups as having a certain type of society as members as both groups are racist towards others ethnicities by saying how that there should only be one culture in the USA either  from the two group on white people or black people. It indicates to the viewers that the KKK members are racist as they despise other cultures. The representation also includes a clip of the Black Panthers  protesting on the streets by saying 'black power' and also being judgemental by using insulting language about white people for example insulting a mother that wants to join the protest with her mixed raced daughter but is rejected because she is white.
Another convention that is being used in this documentary is objectivity  by providing the viewers with facts and opinions for example in this clip the story is talking about when the KKK first started and how many people there are in the group and also how many followers that  join up daily from different city's in the United States.  The last convention that is being portrayed to the viewers is impartiality the presenter of this doesn't take the sides of the KKK and The Black Panthers he is neutral and he also doesn't pass judgement.

Reggie Yates: Race Riots USA
This documentary is all about the story of Michael Browns murder  which happened in Ferguson.

A convention this is being used in this documentary is accuracy by providing the viewers with information about the location was were Michael Brown was murdered and this is also being biased by showing the viewers with real archive footage and also providing the viewers subjective on his views of the murder that took place. And also this documentary about the death of Michael Brown the presenter is
being honest about the story he is opened minded as he takes the side of Michael Brown. This documentary s
tory indicates that after the death of Michael Brown there has been more murders by white police officers and the victims are all black people also 176 black people have been murders for no reason from police officers this indicates to the viewers  that the police officers are being racist.

Is Britain Racist
This documentary is all about racism  and  how people in the UK are being racist  to people from different backgrounds. WE look at how the victims are treated and how racism is rife in todays society.

The conventions that this documentary contains is access&privacy for example when the 4 people that have different cultures go undercover by having hidden cameras to show the viewers if  and when other people are being racist to them and to also show how they are being treated such as each of the 3 people  have different background cultures. For instance Muslim,Jewish and also African  they went out on the street twice the first time was to show there culture off to see show the viewers if anyone is being racist to them the second was to and act being normal  and this indicates to the viewers that they are not being racist because before they were being judged for their background and culture. At on point of the documentary one of the people that had a secret camera was being racially abused from other people that were passing by here for example saying"get your crap out of here" this shows the audience that some people in the UK are racist to people that haven't done anything wrong but are being abused because they are just embracing their culture.

We Want Our Country Back
This documentary is all about racism  on how some people in the UK are being judgemental about Muslims by saying we don't want you here.

A convention that is being used is in this documentary is opinions of people that are on the streets for example a man said to the presenter and the viewers and also towards the leader that he isn't racist to Muslims and he also said that people in the UK shouldn't be racist at all. This also includes both sides of the story for example one of the members that is saying to the viewers "that Muslims will thanks over the UK" these people are being judgmental and rude.

Also includes subjective by showing the viewers that Britain First are racist to Muslims by going to every local Muslim restaurants and threatening the mangers by saying stop selling halal food sell normal foods. And this also shows to the viewers that the owners are stating to them that the group can't tell them what to do, and he hasn't done anything wrong to deserve this by being racially abused because of his skin colour and his culture and because he is a Muslim.

Super Size Me
The convention that is being portrayed to the viewers is Contact With Viewers this documentary gives a false indication of the information which is being portrayed to the viewers.  The presenter gives a false fact of him gaining 5,000 calories a day it is researched by students that people that eat fast food everyday will get 6,000 calories. Also it is researched by students that the subject of the documentary (Spurlock) had no liver or cholesterol
trouble that was reported.
