The aim of my documentary is to educate people about asthma. I will explain what is asthma is and what the symptoms are. What treatments are available currently and which ones are being developed.
Content
My documentary will be performative. It would feature interviews from Dave Bassi a Respiratory & Allergy Therapy Specialist. at GlaxoSmithKline a leading pharmaceutical company who has agreed to discuss ''We can speak on the impact that asthma has on patients, the symptoms, it’s causes and how it is treated''. I will be interviewing my mother who has experienced me suffering from an asthma attack. And also interviewing Professor Chris Griffiths, MA D Phil FRCP FRCGP who is a professor of primary care at Barts University who will be discussing what to look out for during an asthma attack and the effects on the body from asthma. Another interview with be with Dr John Dickinson head of the respiratory clinic/lecturer I have also contacted former Olympian Lord Sebastian Coe. My last interview with be with a personal trainer Annette Foulds specializes in asthma and fitness.
Target Audience
Format
My documentary mode will be performative the conventions that I am going to use is voice overs, presentation and also archive footage. I will also be the presenter in my documentary and I will be able to explain to the audience what my documentary is all about. By explaining to them about this medical condition and also what is the major risk of asthma e.g. what are the symptoms are and how does this respiratory disease affects the body physically,
Genre
My documentary will help educate the target audience that will be watching by interviewing experts about my documentary which is all about asthma an respiratory lung disease. For my documentary I would find out the facts and figures and i will go into more detail about this serious medical condition. By doing this I want to provide as much information to the target audience because they might not know as much about this respiratory disease that millions of people suffer from asthma e.g. this condition affects 5.4 million people in the United Kingdom. It affects 1 in 12 adults and can be developed at any age.
Style
In my documentary I will have different styles, such as the main one is the location that has to suit the topic that I am talking about. I would also make sure that the camera shot that I will use look formal and professional when I will be interviewing the experts about my documentary and this would look more presentable for my audience to watch. The camera shot that I would use e.g. long shot of me explaining about this respiratory disease and I would also use medium shot and also close ups of me, asking me,asking the experts questions. I would also like to use a Go-Pro camera for one scene of demonstrating a race or an different trail of exercise with an fitness expert that i am going to interview to show the audience what it is like to be an asthmatic. The 3 things that will influence me when creating my documentary will include graphics about asthma such as an graph of how many people were diagnosed with this respiratory disease and also an archive footage of what are the first stages suffering from an asthma attack. I would also use sound from all of the experts i would use background music but if this doesn't fit when editing I would not use it. The last style that I will use for documentary is editing I will try and add lots of jump cuts from the experts that I will be interviewing about asthma.
